Step Well Series # 5 -

Chand Baori

It was this picture of this magnificent architectural wonder that started me on my exploration of Indian step wells. Four years later, it has finally become a box, the fifth in my Step Well Series. Of the thirteen courses of stairs in this box, two are "under water" but visible beneath the watery glass at the bottom. Chand Baori is approximately 100 feet deep. The box is 10 1/2 inches deep, making it the deepest step well box in the world. The box measures 12 1/2" h - 19"w-19"d,  and the materials are walnut, bird's eye maple, and glass. There are 14 compartments.
